Regardless of who your doula is, you should feel educated, empowered and encouraged through your perinatal journey. Your beautiful birthing experience should begin with an inviting consultation to explore your unique birth plans and discover how our support can envelop you in warmth. Your compassionate doula should then guide you through prenatal inquiries and provide continuous support during labor. Great doulas will have additional resources such as a digital lending library, childbirth education connections and a strong network of additional service providers to support additional needs as they arise.

Basic Doula Support

Labor & Birth Support

A doula will expect to be on-call 24/7 starting from 37 weeks, enveloping you in a cocoon of support. You should be encouraged to reach out through phone, text, video chat, or in-person during the tender moments of early labor. Your doula may have comfort and care items such as a TENS unit, rebozos, acupressure tools, comforting massage techniques, a peanut ball, aromatherapy oils, sitz bath herbs, and more.

Your doula will foster an atmosphere of open and respectful communication with your care providers, empowering you to ask clarifying questions and advocate for your birth in alignment with your desires.

Postpartum Support

Begin your postpartum journey with support for the sacred moments of initial feeding (breastfeeding or chestfeeding) and the tender bonding experiences in the first few hours. Your doula will want to check in on the first day postpartum, creating a nurturing space to discuss newborn and postpartum recovery expectations, as well as on the third or fourth day postpartum, providing a gentle space to process the birthing experience and offer assistance with lactation if desired.

A great doula will help you explore and process your unique birthing experience, address any concerns or worries, and receive ongoing support and guidance. Families seeking a deeper holistic postpartum journey are encouraged to explore virtual or in-person postpartum doula services, embracing the warmth of a holistic approach.
